Hatty

Violin

Biography

Hatty is a violinist enjoying a varied musical life performing as a recitalist, chamber musician and orchestral player across the UK and in Europe.

She is currently finalising her Masters degree at the Guildhall School of Music and Drama where she studies with Stephanie Gonley, Krysia Osostowicz and Pavlo Beznosiuk (baroque violin). Her studies are generously supported by Help Musicians UK, the Countess of Munster Musical Trust, John Welch Scholarship, the Tillett Trust and the Craxton Memorial Trust.

Hatty has performed extensively throughout the UK in venues such as Wigmore Hall, St John’s Smith Square, St James’ Piccadilly, Colston Hall, Regent Hall, Royal Festival Hall, LSO St Luke’s. She has also given concerts in HKAPA and St John’s Cathedral (Hong Kong), Alti Hall, Suntory Hall, Koriyama Concert Hall and Sogakudo Concert Hall (Japan). She has performed at various festivals including Southwell Music Festival, Kyoto International Students Festival, Vilalte Chamber Music Festival, has performed live on BBC Radio Somerset as well as having various concerts broadcasted on BBC Radio 3. She is also a keen and versatile orchestral musician, and has performed with orchestras such as London Sinfonietta, Scottish Chamber Orchestra, the Philharmonia and Orchestra of the Age of Enlightenment. Hatty has taken part in masterclasses with James Ehnes, Lucy Chapman, Sylvia Rosenberg, Doric Quartet, Fine Arts Quartet, Guy Johnston and also with Andras Keller at IMS Prussia Cove.

Previous to her Masters degree, Hatty completed her undergraduate studies at the Royal Academy of Music where she was awarded the prestigious J&A Beare Bow prize upon graduating. She studied with So-Ock Kim and Nicolette Moonen (baroque violin) and was a participant on the Asset Frost Chamber Music Scheme and the Davey Poznanski Quartet scheme under the tutelage of Levon Chilingirian. Throughout her four years there she was the recipient of the John Waterhouse Prize, Amadeus Prize, Sir John Barbirolli Prize and won first place in the Wolfe Wolfinsohn String Quartet Competition. She performed with the RAM Baroque Soloists at Wigmore Hall under the direction of Rachel Podger, and also toured Japan with the Sainsbury Royal Academy Soloists conducted by Trevor Pinnock. She regularly performed in the acclaimed RAM/Kohn Foundation Bach Cantata series at the Academy on both historical and modern instruments.
Hatty is incredibly grateful to the Albert Cooper Trust, Lumbs Foundation, Kathleen Trust and the Stephen Bell Trust for their support and to the Harrison Frank Family Foundation for the generous loan of a Baldantoni violin c.1810.
